Latin America's purchases of technology-related equipment are on the rise, according to Gartner, a leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry. PC shipments in Latin America grew 29% in the third quarter of the year over their number in the same quarter of 2003, the group says, even though PC purchases in some other regions of the world have decreased.

National Small Business Innovation Research , phase II conference & exhibition : DAU Alumni Symposium 2005—best practices and solutions for rapid acquisition, logistics and technology


The 22nd Annual DAU Alumni Association Acquisition Symposium was held April 19-20 on the Capital/Northeast Campus of DAU at Fort Belvoir, Va. It was billed as a practical learning experience on rapid acquisition processes and models, and it lived up to expectations in all aspects. The theme of the symposium was especially timely as our nation's warfighters are currently actively engaged in combat with terrorists world-wide, with particular emphasis on Iraq and Afghanistan. They rely on acquisition leaders and managers to provide the best technology available in a short period of time.

Ikon Office Solutions' technology unit sold


The unit, prevoously known as Ikon's Upstate New York Technology Services, has five locations; including the one in Syracuse. The unit, now a stand-alone company, changed its name to Vitec Solutions, LLC when Ikon spun off.

The new owner is Empire Investment Holdings, LLC, a private-investment firm focused on the acquisition and management of corporate divestitures. Ikon sold its upstate-technology business because the leadership decided to focus more on the firm's document-management and service business, according to the company.

Incident support innovations demonstrated at Westminster: at a recent House of Commons event SSi Solutions demonstrated how technology can be used to deliver efficient fire incident support for the Fire Service - Communications


Delegates including Lord Brockman, Deputy Chairman of the All Party Fire Safety Group and several prominent MPs including Kerry Pollard, Nigel Evans and John Cummings were taken through demonstrations of the interlocking technologies while the requirements of fire incident support were simulated.

Brigades are increasingly looking to technology to help them achieve best value. Providing a seamless fire incident support package requires the integration of a number of technologies and suppliers, which was reflected in the SSi seminar.
